Infirmery Much

Last week is a complete and utter blur! Not one, not two, not three, but all four of us were sick last week! And I guess I'll make that 5 by proxy. Ohhhhhh, the horror!!! There were doctor's appointments, prescriptions, rub downs, thermometers, and tissues galore!! At one point or another, everyone had a fever. Ty, who hates to miss work, had to call out. The boys had to stay home from daycare. I was home battling my own illness, trying to keep the boys from re-infecting each other.

Saturday was Halloween. I spent waaaayyyyy too much time HERE fighting for the best monkey and lion costumes to let the day pass us by. We all had to be better by Saturday to ensure the boys could show off their costumes. It was touch a go for a while, but the boys began to rebound by Friday. It is now the following Tuesday and I am still coughing. Don't get me wrong, I feel MUCH better... but I know I'm still not 100%. I think because I'm not really allowed to take cold medicine. I'm taking just about everything else (that's legal anyway), so I hope to have complete relief one day soon.

Here are the boys all dressed up! Aren't they just too cute!!!

Here are the 3 amigos AKA Team Trouble! :-)

Fantastico!

(this pic is a little shadow-y, but I love it!)

Our long weekend was muy fantastico! How was yours?
We went up the NJT (NJ Turnpike for those of you not familiar) to pay a visit to my dear old dad (verrry old! ha!) and my lovely mom. Seriously, what a great time!!

The boys (true to form) did NOT want to leave!!!! We literally had to drag them out of the house kicking and screaming.
So, what made the weekend so grand? I got to sleep my little heart out. Nothing like being able to sleep uninteruppted for once. or twice.

Actually, that's not true. On Sunday morning, Jordan came into our room and woke me up. BUT, he just came in because he was "trying to find MomB and Dadu." He didn't even want us!! Score! I got to go back to sleep....

I also got to see my friend Z. We've been friends since 1984... she's dope. We are very different, but I think that's why we get along so well... we complement each other.
So, she's due with her second baby boy at the end of June. She's super prego! She's getting ready to move too, so she has tons on her plate. It was great seeing her though. All the boys got to play together, which was hilarious! I wish we lived closer so they could play together more often, but she's not trying to move to Philly and I can't afford to move back to Jersey! We've all seen this right.... Well, we don't live that large (not yet anyway), but North Jersey (where I'm from) is just too expensive.

ANYWAY....

The boys had a great time too. They got to wear down their grandparents and just "wow" them with their intelligence and boundless energy. oh yeah, and their complete disregard for authority.

a little see-saw time...

a little baseball time...

SWWIIINNNG Jordie!

Jordie running the bases (WITH the bat!)

Dadu running the bases. Run, Dadu, Run!

And I gotta say it was nice to have all my boys together all at the same time. I'm just sorry I didn't get a good shot of my brother.... Next time. Here are my other 4 boys though!

Since the month is quickly coming to a close, we decided to do May's dinner and a movie while on our trip. This month's feature, Bolt. Jordan saw this in the movies, so he was really excited to see it again! (or so we thought).

The boys getting ready to watch our movie

We ate our dinner first, then all gathered in the den (me, Ty, the boys, MomB and Dadu too). The movie started, we watched. The doorbell rang, it took 3 people to answer the door (2 under 3 feet tall).

It was Uncle Aych! So long Bolt.

My big brother came in toting bags like he was Santa Claus or something. Since he didn't get to see Jordie on his birthday, he didn't dare enter the house empty-handed. Jordie got the obligatory pajamas (for some reason, he ALWAYS needs pj's), and he got him this and this. Jordie loves Little People and he loves animals - so this gift was PERFECT! Of course with new toys, or any toys for that matter, we must reinforce the principle of sharing. Jordie let Aaron play with 2 of the animals. One for each hand. Isn't he generous!! LOL

So, all in all, the weekend was a success! No major attitudes, not too many tears, good weather, good company.... what more could I ask for?

Ohhhh, that's right! A blog post wouldn't be complete without some some mention of an ailment. I was fine the whole weekend... until I woke up Monday morning. I woke up feeling dehydrated and hung over. I spent the next 5 hours spilling my guts from the upshoot and the downspout - if you get my drift! *wink* Since then, I feel super nauseous each time I eat... no matter what I eat. Not sure what kind of bug I have, but I'd like him to vacate the premises... asap!

Back Among the Living

I'm happy to be back...
among the living, the healthy, and all those who don't get sick every other day like I do!

I've been completely out of commission this past week...
*cough, cough*

I hate being sick! Have I mentioned that?

Anyway, I'm back....
Happy to be back!

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!!! And let's not forget all those who gave their lives for our freedom. I hate getting preachy, so I'll stop there. ha!

I was back, now I'm gone again..
See you next week.

Adjustment Much

Soooo, there have been some major changes at Chez BlueWorld! Good changes, I guess... but this is definitely an adjustment period. for all of us.

Last weekend, Ty laid down some ceramic tile in our kitchen. Major improvement!! I wanted to post some before/after pics, but forgot to take before pics. oh well.

Ty got a job (outside of the house) (after a very long time at home with the boys). We're all super happy for him but his new schedule has him working from 6am til 2:30! YIKES! Then, you know he's still in school in the evenings. let's all keep him (& his energy levels) in prayer. I hope he adjusts to his new schedule with minimal problems. he gets cranky when he's overtired...

So, I now have the pleasure of getting the boys dressed and ready in the wee hours of the morning by myself... after they had grown accustomed to hanging out in their pj's for any given amount of time during the day. adjustment period.

Why am I getting them dressed and ready you ask??? Because we had to enroll them into daycare! We didn't want to do it, but with both of us working outside the house we thought it best to not leave them home alone. :-)

So, the boys are up and out by 7:45 for a fun-filled day with snotty nosed, germy, social misfits! Errrr uhhhh, I mean lovely, well-mannered, manicured little tikes. whatever.
Yesterday was their first day. The drop-off went very very well. a little too well if you ask me. I couldn't even get Jordie out of the carseat before he was trying to run inside to see what was in store for him and his brother.

Aaron, comme d'habitude, was a bit apprehensive at first. He has NEVER been in daycare and he's a bit timid in new situations anyway. He stood back and watched Jordan play (who never took his coat or backpack off...ya know, because of the excitement!). I took Aaron to his classroom, where there were no kids. He LOVED that! lol He got busy and played and spoke to his teacher. It was all very cute. I left him and went back to Jordan's room. I was standing in the hall when Aaron walked by. He didn't even speak. Not even a wave. hmmmmpphh
I try to pretend I don't care, but I gotta say - that one stung a bit.

So, I left.
There were no tears, no tantrums, no "Mommmmmmmmmyyyy, don't go." Nada. I'm happy they adapt well, but still.. c'mon..

All in all the day went well. Jordie refused to go to the potty and had an accident. I had to pick him up because somehow the change of clothes I sent with him were soaking wet. As it turns out a cup of juice spilled all over everything in his bag. It was towards the end of the day anyway, so they did well. It was nice to see how happy they were to see me though. Jordie ran over to me in his heavy wet jeans... big toothy grin. such a doll! Aaron was waving to me and of course wanted to be picked up... another big grin. such a sweetie pie!

BUT OMG!!!!!!!
The night was awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There aren't enough exclamation points to emphasize how awful last night truly was!!! A.W.F.U.L. !!
Yesterday was just too much for them. They had no idea how to adjust once they got home. They were completely over-stimulated. They were yelling (at me), pushing (me), bullying (me), demanding food RIGHT NOW (all night), crying (we all took turns). And this is all in the course of about 3 hours. It was the longest 3 hours of my life. I think what made it so bad was because Ty was in class and I was exhausted (I had been up since 5am... getting Ty off for work). Oh yeah, and I'm working on day 8 (!!) of a nasty cold mixed in with some gross allergies. yuck.
Sleep deprivation + sickness + cranky toddlers = CHAOS!

Aaron was in bed at 7:45. That's the earliest he's been to bed since infancy.
Jordan was in bed at 8:30.
The house was quiet by 9... and I was in bed by about 10:30... not bad for me.
We're all adjusting to this new (stricter) schedule.

I wish I could say this morning went as well as yesterday. Definite adjustment period. Despite the glowwwwing remarks by both Jordan and his teacher (he's super-intelligent.. :-D)... Jordan told me this morning that he did NOT want to go back. And if he had to go, I had to stay with him. I actually had to hold his hand to get him through the door. so sad. He was fine though once he got settled.

We'll see how tonight goes. I'm desperately hoping for better results!
Wish us luck!

still adjusting..

Status Quo

I am still sick. Feeling much better, just not well. How can that be, you ask?

I had a heart to heart with my immune system to ask him (cuz you know it's a dude) what's up. Our convo went a little something like this:

Me: Dude, I still can't breathe and I feel like I'm about to hack up a lung!!! What gives??
IS: Don't look at me!!!
Me: What do you mean, "don't look at me!!" You are supposed to protect me from all this!!
IS: What do you think I was doing when you were carrying those precious babies in that cesspool of innards you got there?? You didn't get sick once during those 2 years.
ME: Cesspool??? Really?? That's a little harsh - even for you! I can't deny it, you have been there for me in the past... but why is there so much strife in our relationship now?
IS: Sorry my dear, but you are off by one letter. What used to be striFe is now a full on striKe! You treat me poorly, so you've left me no option. I'm out til spring.
Me: Til spring????????? *tears* (When Can I See You Again by Babyface plays softly in the background)

~end scene~

I guess all is as it should be. Status quo... no more no less.

~~~~Now, it's Monday, 23Feb. Looonngggg weekend! :-D~~~~
Even sick, the weekend was full and GREAT! Ty and I attended a grown folks ONLY party hosted by none other than the party maven - Tiffany!! We had a GREAT time!!!! But since it was adults only and this is a family blog - sorry, no pics!!
Saturday, we visited MomB and Dadu. I felt like a kid again.. at least a college kid. I brought up tons of laundry (our dryer is still broken) and Mommy so graciously did as much as she could while entertaining a room full of menfolk who Daddy had gathered for a meeting of the minds.
It was cool b/c Shana rode up with us and accompanied me to the mall (I told you, I felt like a kid again) and we got to see ZYB! She is prego and she definitely has that glow!!! b-e-a-u-tiful I tell you!! Did I mention she's having another boy.... 2 boys each, how cute!!
Anyway, we're back home and have lots to do in the next few days. We're hitting the road again for a long weekend away. I'm sure my immune system will think better of his proposed strike in time for us to have a fun-filled trip... please, keep me in prayer! :-)
Feel The Love
Do I feel the love????
In a word, NO!
Why, you ask....
Simple.
I am in the throws of my third, yes THIRD, cold of this young year.
We are only in mid-February and I am already in the midst of my third sneezing, coughing, fever, chills, aches, episode of the year..... UGGGHHHH! (since I'm still feeling so awful, this is going to be brief)
It all started on Friday. We were celebrating a VERY special occasion - one where we wanted to share our love with others. :-)
Our little Babydoll Caedee turned UNO!!! I cannot believe that she is alread one year old, but alas, she is. God bless her!
How cute is the birthday girl!!!
Here she is with her royal subject (her mommy) getting ready to blow out her candles.
How do you like her bday tiara?? I was told her dad bought that for the little princess!! How appropriate! HA!
I woke up Saturday morning feeling AWFUL!! I had to make mac & cheese for my sorority meeting. Of course, I waited until the very last minute to get it done so I headed to the nearby Pathmark to get the ingredients at 6:30am. What's funny about that is the guy in front of me in line had nothing else with him but 2 (not 1, but 2) packages of Double Stuff Oreos!!! At 6:30 in the morning??? That literally made me LOL! Maybe he had a pregnant wife at home with an early morning craving... Really, at 6:30am all you need are some Oreos????? LOL
Anyway, I make the mac & cheese - but didn't taste any of it before I wrapped it up for transport. I thought to myself that I should taste it, but I wasn't feeling well, I had been up since 6:15 (I'm soooooooo not a morning person), and in typical fashion I was running late.
All I'm gonna say is that I should've taken the few extra minutes and just tasted it. It wasn't bad, it was just bland. Ah well...
Moving on...
I had promised the boys a special treat for Valentine's Day. V-Day is not a day Ty and I particularly celebrate. In all actuality, we barely even acknowledge it. Anyway, I get home and make them some muy delicioso cupcakes. YUMMY!! No mistakes here!! lol
Think I made enough?? :-)
This was Jordie's first AND last bite of the cupcake.
He doesn't have a sweet tooth like me and the other AJ. Don't worry, it didn't go to waste (I ate it)
Here's Owwie going to work!
Here he is trying to get me to take a bite, but because of the aforementioned cold, I declined. :-(
Since our February is jam packed with activities and travels, we also set this day aside for dinner and a movie. I let the boys (Jordie) choose the movie. Jordan has maaad love for Cars, so we watched that - for the umpteenth time.
Once the movie ended, it was bedtime.
I woke up today even sicker than yesterday. I spent most of the day either in bed or on the couch. Hopefully no one else in the house will get this bug. Speaking of bugs, did anyone see Grey's Anatomy on Thursday when McDreamy surgerized out those brain worms!! YUCK!! but definitely one to watch!
Ok, back to bed I go....
Love to all, but I'll try to keep my germs to myself
Tea and Toast
I am entering day 5 of my second illness of the year. I can't believe I'm so sick... so soon.. AGAIN!
The weather has been pretty cold here, but not to the point where I should be this ill all over again.
I am so frustrated because I have a BIG weekend ahead of me and I can't afford to be fighting a cold. Without proper rest, I'll never get better... lol
I just hope after tonight my diet will consist of something more than tea and toast.
Question: why is tea and toast the best "sick" food ever!!! I grew up on tea and toast when sick and I still rely on it when under the weather. I know I know...perhaps if I incorporated more vitamins and minerals, fruits and veggies I'd probably be feeling better by now.
I'll report back after this weekend with a much better report!!! (one can hope)
Til then, I have no funny anecdotes to tell, nothing memorable to recount...not much of anything.
oh yeah, except a picture of Jordie in his pj's and snow boots!! How cute are those little legs ?!??!
and if you're wondering, YES that is a Backyardigans plate I'm sporting in the picture up top!! haha Why should the boys have all the fun???
The 12th Month
EvenfasterthanmyUsainBolt3monthrecap will be my Dec08 recap.
We got a tree... not the tree I wanted, but a nice tree nonetheless.
Blue reigned supreme in the decision making process.
I decorated it.... alone *insert sad face*
Each year we (I) pick 2 colors for the tree. In 2005, it was red and gold. In 2006, it was green and gold. In 2007, it was red and green (how original). And this year, we chose silver and gold. The tree was beautful and elegant... if I do say so myself.
Check out a few pics...
Every year, the church puts on its annual Sunday School Christmas program. All the children participate. Well, guess who made his debut this year???? Whyyyyy, Jordie of course!!! His poem reads:
Twinkle twinkle little star
Shine on manger bed
Where the baby Jesus child
Rests His kingly head
All in all, not very difficult - but quite a feat for a 2 year old!!! We are soooo proud of him!
Check him out..
Christmas definitely lived up to all the hype this year!! I was so excited for Christmas this year (well, at this point last year) and it met and surpassed every expectation. The boys left me overjoyed and wanting more! I didn't have nary a gift under the tree, and it didn't make one bit of difference. To see their little smiles and them jumping around with such glee... a mother could not ask for more!!!!
We hosted breakfast at our house - and it was just so nice to have everyone over (from both sides) and to have everyone get along and fellowship in love. After breakfast we went to my aunt Kim's house for dinner. Comme d'habitude, we were late!! Everyone had already eaten by the time we got there. You know you're late when Herm beats you to the house!!!! LOL We played Taboo and only had a few intense moments....pretty good for my family. It was a VERY long day and I never wanted it to end!!! This was truly the best Christmas in a VERY VERY VERY long time!! Thank God for Jesus!
Check out my beautiful family.
bright and early Christmas morning
I know 2 little boys who made out like bandits!!!!! (in their oh so cute snowman pajamas)
The Snyders, the Lovetts, The Chavises and the Weekses - I'm Lovin' It!
Right after Christmas I got sick.... like a really bad cold.
Don't I just ooooooze sick!!
The boys take good care of me though
I am actually still suffering from a bit of a cough and we are a good 2 weeks past Christmas. Anyway, all that to say is I missed pretty much the whole week of New Year's. Can't say I really documented all that much and I sadly missed Watch Night Service on New Year's Eve. I'm just glad the boys didn't get sick... other than a little runny nose.
New Year's Day we had a little get together....and I cooked!! ummmmm, kinda
The family came over and my parents came back down - a great day sniffles and all.
The best part of the day had to be getting my parents and MIL to play the Wii. They bowled, played tennis, WATCHED boxing and just loved it!!! They could finally understand why I said I was addicted. (Mommy even called me the next day saying she was dragging Daddy out to buy one! lol)
Mooooooorrrreeeeee family!!
Really just Dadu and his 'grandboys' and a little GG in action (playing Wii)
ok...next post - 2009!!! WOOO HOOOOOO!! We're going to a Sixers game tomorrow (all of us), so we'll see how that turns out.
